Data policy

• No accounts and no cookies set by us. Search matching runs in your browser against a static index, but a search is a page request: your query is part of the page address (/search?q=…), so it reaches the hosting service and appears in its request logs (see Hosting logs, below). Loading the index then fetches a few index files whose names are derived from the words you searched for. The only other form is the report form (below).
• No analytics and no third-party requests. Every asset is served from this domain. There are no tracking pixels, fonts or scripts from other origins. The one request to another address is a report you choose to send, which your browser posts to syntology.ai.
• Browser storage. If you pick a light or dark theme, that one preference is kept in your browser's local storage and never leaves it.
• Hosting logs. The site is served by Amazon Web Services (Amazon CloudFront in front of Amazon S3), which keeps transient request records (IP address, user agent, path including any search query) for operational and abuse-prevention purposes under the AWS privacy notice. Syntology does not export or analyse them per visitor.
• Data about people in the archive. Author names appear as the archived Papers with Code dataset recorded them or, where the page says so, as arXiv's metadata records them. To correct or remove one, write to privacy@syntology.ai (Syntology's privacy policy), or send a report.
• Other requests. An error on a page: send a report. A repository or sample you want delisted, or a copyright or licence question: legal@syntology.ai. Anything else: media@syntology.ai.

Reports

• What a report contains. The fields you fill in on /contribute: which page and item, what the page shows, what it should show, your evidence, and anything else you add. An email address only if you choose to give one for a reply.
• What is added when it arrives. The time it was received; a hashed form of your IP address (salted SHA-256, cut to 16 characters, with a salt that changes every day; the address itself is never stored), used only to limit reports to 10 an hour from one address; and the first 200 characters of your browser's user agent, to help tell spam from real reports.
• Where it goes. Your browser sends it to syntology.ai, which stores it in Syntology's Cloudflare Workers KV storage. It is deleted automatically after 180 days. It is never written into the site, Syntology's graph or anywhere else by the service that receives it.
• Who reads it. The people at Syntology who review reports. It is not shared or sold, and it is used only to check and correct this site, and to reply if you gave an email address.
• What is published. Once a report is decided, /corrections lists the page and item it was about, the kind of report, the field, the change that was made (for an accepted report only), the decision, its note and the date. The text you wrote about what the page shows, your evidence and the “anything else” text are not published, and neither are your email address, the IP hash or the user agent. An accepted change is published as made, so please do not put personal data in the “what it should show” field.
• Deleting a report sooner. Write to privacy@syntology.ai with the report's reference (shown when you send it).
