The analysis uses semidefinite programming performance estimation, as pioneered by Drori and Teboulle [Mathematical Programming, 145(1-2):451-482, 2014], and extends recent performance estimation results for the method of Cauchy by the authors [Optimization Letters, 11(7), 1185-1199, 2017]. To illustrate the applicability of the tools, we demonstrate a novel complexity analysis of short step interior point methods using inexact search directions. As an example in this framework, we sketch how to give a rigorous worst-case complexity analysis of a recent interior point method by Abernethy and Hazan [PMLR, 48:2520-2528, 2016].","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/1709.05191v2","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/1709.05191v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"links_only","authors_date_abstract":"arXiv metadata, CC0 1.0 (https://info.arxiv.org/help/license), from the Kaggle arXiv metadata snapshot of 2026-09-12"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"worst-case-convergence-analysis-of-inexact","repo_url":"https://github.com/AdrienTaylor/Performance-Estimation-Problems-For-Newton","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"none","reach":null}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":null,"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
