In this paper, we propose a multi-task learning-based approach capable of jointly performing geometric and semantic scene understanding, namely depth prediction (monocular depth estimation and depth completion) and semantic scene segmentation. Within a single temporally constrained recurrent network, our approach uniquely takes advantage of a complex series of skip connections, adversarial training and the temporal constraint of sequential frame recurrence to produce consistent depth and semantic class labels simultaneously. Extensive experimental evaluation demonstrates the efficacy of our approach compared to other contemporary state-of-the-art techniques.\r","url_abs":"http://openaccess.thecvf.com/content_CVPR_2019/html/Atapour-Abarghouei_Veritatem_Dies_Aperit_-_Temporally_Consistent_Depth_Prediction_Enabled_by_CVPR_2019_paper.html","url_pdf":"http://openaccess.thecvf.com/content_CVPR_2019/papers/Atapour-Abarghouei_Veritatem_Dies_Aperit_-_Temporally_Consistent_Depth_Prediction_Enabled_by_CVPR_2019_paper.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"veritatem-dies-aperit-temporally-consistent-1","repo_url":"https://github.com/atapour/temporal-depth-segmentation","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"pytorch","reach":null}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"autonomous-driving","task_name":"Autonomous Driving"},{"task_slug":"depth-completion","task_name":"Depth Completion"},{"task_slug":"depth-estimation","task_name":"Depth Estimation"},{"task_slug":"depth-prediction","task_name":"Depth Prediction"},{"task_slug":"monocular-depth-estimation","task_name":"Monocular Depth Estimation"},{"task_slug":"multi-task-learning","task_name":"Multi-Task Learning"},{"task_slug":"scene-segmentation","task_name":"Scene Segmentation"},{"task_slug":"scene-understanding","task_name":"Scene Understanding"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":null,"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
