Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have proven to be a flexible tool to approximate quantum many-body states in condensed matter and chemistry problems. In this work we introduce a neural-network quantum state ansatz to model the ground-state wave function of light nuclei, and approximately solve the nuclear many-body Schr\\\"odinger equation. Using efficient stochastic sampling and optimization schemes, our approach extends pioneering applications of ANNs in the field, which present exponentially-scaling algorithmic complexity. We compute the binding energies and point-nucleon densities of $A\\leq 4$ nuclei as emerging from a leading-order pionless effective field theory Hamiltonian. We successfully benchmark the ANN wave function against more conventional parametrizations based on two- and three-body Jastrow functions, and virtually-exact Green's function Monte Carlo results.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2007.14282v2","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2007.14282v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"links_only","authors_date_abstract":"arXiv metadata, CC0 1.0 (https://info.arxiv.org/help/license), from the Kaggle arXiv metadata snapshot of 2026-09-12"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"variational-monte-carlo-calculations-of","repo_url":"https://github.com/Nuclear-Physics-with-Machine-Learning/MLQM","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"tf","reach":null},{"paper_slug":"variational-monte-carlo-calculations-of","repo_url":"https://github.com/coreyjadams/AI-for-QM","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"tf","reach":null}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
