The SED combines ultraviolet and blue-optical spectroscopy obtained with the Hubble Space Telescope, X-ray spectroscopy obtained with XMM-Newton, and models of the stellar photosphere, chromosphere, transition region and corona. A new Differential Emission Measure model of the unobserved extreme-ultraviolet spectrum is provided, improving on the Lyman alpha to EUV relations often used to estimate the 100-911A flux from low-mass stars. We describe the observations and models used, as well as the recipe for combining them into an SED. We also provide a semi-empirical, noise-free model of the stellar ultraviolet spectrum based on our observations for use in atmospheric modelling of the TRAPPIST-1 planets.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2102.11415v1","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2102.11415v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"links_only","authors_date_abstract":"arXiv metadata, CC0 1.0 (https://info.arxiv.org/help/license), from the Kaggle arXiv metadata snapshot of 2026-09-12"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"the-mega-muscles-spectral-energy-distribution","repo_url":"https://github.com/davidjwilson/Trappist-1_MM","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"none","reach":null}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":null,"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
