We consider an identifiability problem where some\nexperimental and observational data are available but neither data alone is\nsufficient for the identification of the causal effect of interest. Instead of\nthe outcome of interest, surrogate outcomes are measured in the experiments.\nThis problem is a generalization of identifiability using surrogate experiments\nand we label it as surrogate outcome identifiability. We show that the concept\nof transportability provides a sufficient criteria for determining surrogate\noutcome identifiability for a large class of queries.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1806.07172v4","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1806.07172v4.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"surrogate-outcomes-and-transportability","repo_url":"https://github.com/y0-causal-inference/y0","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"none","reach":{"status":"ok","spdx":"BSD-3-Clause"}}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"causal-inference","task_name":"Causal Inference"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":null,"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
