But predicting graphs presents difficult technical challenges, so it is simpler and more common to predict the linearized graphs found in semantic parsing datasets using well-understood sequence models. The cost of this simplicity is that the predicted strings may not be well-formed graphs. We present recurrent neural network DAG grammars, a graph-aware sequence model that ensures only well-formed graphs while sidestepping many difficulties in graph prediction. We test our model on the Parallel Meaning Bank---a multilingual semantic graphbank. Our approach yields competitive results in English and establishes the first results for German, Italian and Dutch.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/1910.00051v2","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/1910.00051v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"drs-parsing","task_name":"DRS Parsing"},{"task_slug":"semantic-parsing","task_name":"Semantic Parsing"}],"methods":[{"method_slug":"test","method_name":"Test"}],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[{"leaderboard":"/sota/drs-parsing-on-pmb-2-2-0","task":"DRS Parsing","dataset":"PMB-2.2.0","model":"Neural graph-based system using DAG-grammars","rank_in_archive_order":5,"of":6,"metrics":{"F1":"76.4"},"uses_additional_data":false}],"syntology":{"atlas_url":"https://app.syntology.ai/?focus=1910.00051","mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
