More precisely, we investigate approaches to determine the number and positions of the singularities closest to the origin for a function that is only known numerically on a specific finite grid of values on the positive real axis. For this problem, we compare the efficiency of standard techniques, like the Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm, to a pure artificial-neural-network approach as well as a combination of these two. This combination is more efficient than any of the two techniques separately. Such an approach is generalizable to similar situations, where the positions of poles of a function in a complex variable must be quickly and reliably estimated from real-axis information alone.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2309.08358v1","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2309.08358v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"links_only","authors_date_abstract":"arXiv metadata, CC0 1.0 (https://info.arxiv.org/help/license), from the Kaggle arXiv metadata snapshot of 2026-09-12"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"pole-fitting-for-complex-functions-enhancing","repo_url":"https://github.com/siegfriedkaidisch/pole_sum_net","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"pytorch","reach":null}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
