Our research explores a two-step approach of performing\nclassification on abusive language and then classifying into specific types and\ncompares it with one-step approach of doing one multi-class classification for\ndetecting sexist and racist languages. With a public English Twitter corpus of\n20 thousand tweets in the type of sexism and racism, our approach shows a\npromising performance of 0.827 F-measure by using HybridCNN in one-step and\n0.824 F-measure by using logistic regression in two-steps.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1706.01206v1","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1706.01206v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"one-step-and-two-step-classification-for","repo_url":"https://github.com/younggns/comparative-abusive-lang","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"tf","reach":null}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"abuse-detection","task_name":"Abuse Detection"},{"task_slug":"abusive-language","task_name":"Abusive Language"},{"task_slug":"classification-1","task_name":"Classification"},{"task_slug":"classification","task_name":"General Classification"},{"task_slug":"multi-class-classification","task_name":"Multi-class Classification"},{"task_slug":"regression-1","task_name":"regression"}],"methods":[{"method_slug":"logistic-regression","method_name":"Logistic Regression"}],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":"https://app.syntology.ai/?focus=1706.01206","mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
