Shrivastava and Li argue that there is no symmetric LSH for the\nproblem and propose an asymmetric LSH based on different mappings for query and\ndatabase points. However, we show there does exist a simple symmetric LSH that\nenjoys stronger guarantees and better empirical performance than the asymmetric\nLSH they suggest. We also show a variant of the settings where asymmetry is\nin-fact needed, but there a different asymmetric LSH is required.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1410.5518v3","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1410.5518v3.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"on-symmetric-and-asymmetric-lshs-for-inner","repo_url":"https://github.com/se4u/cylsh","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"none","reach":{"status":"ok"}}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":"https://syntology.ai/paper/1410.5518","atlas_url":"https://app.syntology.ai/?focus=1410.5518","mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
