In this paper we are focused on designing a network architecture and a training pipeline to tackle the mentioned challenges. Our architecture takes the best from the previous ones and brings the ability to be successful not only in appearance-based action recognition tasks but in motion-based problems too. Furthermore, the induced label noise problem is formulated and Adaptive Clip Selection (ACS) framework is proposed to deal with it. Together it makes the LIGAR framework the general-purpose action recognition solution. We also have reported the extensive analysis on the general and gesture datasets to show the excellent trade-off between the performance and the accuracy in comparison to the state-of-the-art solutions. Training code is available at: https://github.com/openvinotoolkit/training_extensions. For the efficient edge-oriented inference all trained models can be exported into the OpenVINO format.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2108.13153v1","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2108.13153v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"ligar-lightweight-general-purpose-action","repo_url":"https://github.com/openvinotoolkit/training_extensions","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"pytorch","reach":{"status":"ok","spdx":"Apache-2.0"}}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"action-recognition-in-videos","task_name":"Action Recognition"},{"task_slug":"gesture-recognition","task_name":"Gesture Recognition"},{"task_slug":"hand-gesture-recognition-1","task_name":"Hand-Gesture Recognition"},{"task_slug":"video-understanding","task_name":"Video Understanding"}],"methods":[{"method_slug":"1x1-convolution","method_name":"1x1 Convolution"},{"method_slug":"3d-convolution","method_name":"3D Convolution"},{"method_slug":"average-pooling","method_name":"Average Pooling"},{"method_slug":"batch-normalization","method_name":"Batch Normalization"},{"method_slug":"clip","method_name":"CLIP"},{"method_slug":"convolution","method_name":"Convolution"},{"method_slug":"dense-connections","method_name":"Dense Connections"},{"method_slug":"depthwise-convolution","method_name":"Depthwise Convolution"},{"method_slug":"depthwise-separable-convolution","method_name":"Depthwise Separable Convolution"},{"method_slug":"dropout","method_name":"Dropout"},{"method_slug":"global-average-pooling","method_name":"Global Average Pooling"},{"method_slug":"hard-swish","method_name":"Hard Swish"},{"method_slug":"inverted-residual-block","method_name":"Inverted Residual Block"},{"method_slug":"pointwise-convolution","method_name":"Pointwise Convolution"},{"method_slug":"relu","method_name":"ReLU"},{"method_slug":"relu6","method_name":"ReLU6"},{"method_slug":"sigmoid-activation","method_name":"Sigmoid Activation"},{"method_slug":"squeeze-and-excitation-block","method_name":"Squeeze-and-Excitation Block"}],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[{"leaderboard":"/sota/action-recognition-on-jester-gesture","task":"Action Recognition","dataset":"Jester (Gesture Recognition)","model":"X3D MobileNet-V3 LGD-GC","rank_in_archive_order":3,"of":3,"metrics":{"Val":"95.56"},"uses_additional_data":true},{"leaderboard":"/sota/action-recognition-in-videos-on-ucf101","task":"Action Recognition","dataset":"UCF101","model":"X3D MobileNet-V3 LGD-GC","rank_in_archive_order":50,"of":91,"metrics":{"3-fold Accuracy":"94.85"},"uses_additional_data":true}],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
