In clinical practice, the morphology of\nintestinal glands, including architectural appearance and glandular formation,\nis used by pathologists to inform prognosis and plan the treatment of\nindividual patients. However, achieving good inter-observer as well as\nintra-observer reproducibility of cancer grading is still a major challenge in\nmodern pathology. An automated approach which quantifies the morphology of\nglands is a solution to the problem. This paper provides an overview to the\nGland Segmentation in Colon Histology Images Challenge Contest (GlaS) held at\nMICCAI'2015. Details of the challenge, including organization, dataset and\nevaluation criteria, are presented, along with the method descriptions and\nevaluation results from the top performing methods.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1603.00275v2","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1603.00275v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"prognosis","task_name":"Prognosis"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[{"slug":"glas","name":"GlaS","full_name":"Gland Segmentation in Colon Histology Images Challenge"}],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":"https://syntology.ai/paper/1603.00275","atlas_url":"https://app.syntology.ai/?focus=1603.00275","mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
