However, previous denoising methods tend to remove high-frequency information (e.g., textures) from the input. It caused by intermediate feature maps of CNN contains texture information. A straightforward approach to this problem is stacking numerous layers, which leads to a high computational cost. To achieve high performance and computational efficiency, we propose a gated texture CNN (GTCNN), which is designed to carefully exclude the texture information from each intermediate feature map of the CNN by incorporating gating mechanisms. Our GTCNN achieves state-of-the-art performance with 4.8 times fewer parameters than previous state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, the GTCNN allows us to interactively control the texture strength in the output image without any additional modules, training, or computational costs.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2003.07042v2","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2003.07042v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"gated-texture-cnn-for-efficient-and","repo_url":"https://github.com/mdipcit/GTCNN","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"pytorch","reach":null}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"computational-efficiency","task_name":"Computational Efficiency"},{"task_slug":"denoising","task_name":"Denoising"},{"task_slug":"image-denoising","task_name":"Image Denoising"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
