To address these critical issues, we propose a hybrid federated learning algorithm (FedGiA) that combines the gradient descent and the inexact alternating direction method of multipliers. The proposed algorithm is more communication- and computation-efficient than several state-of-the-art algorithms theoretically and numerically. Moreover, it also converges globally under mild conditions.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/2205.01438v6","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/2205.01438v6.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"efficient-and-convergent-federated-learning","repo_url":"https://github.com/shenglongzhou/fedgia","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"none","reach":null}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"federated-learning","task_name":"Federated Learning"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
