To this end, we study how the halo mass function and halo bias factors depend on the scaling variable $\\sigma^2(M,z)$, the variance of the initial matter fluctuation field, rather than on halo mass $M$ and redshift $z$ themselves. We show that using the variance of the cold dark matter rather than the total mass field, i.e., $\\sigma^2_{cdm}(M,z)$ rather than $\\sigma^2_{m}(M,z)$, yields more universal results. Analysis of halo bias yields similar conclusions: When large-scale halo bias is defined with respect to the cold dark matter power spectrum, the result is both more universal, and less scale- or $k$-dependent. These results are used extensively in Papers I and III of this series.","url_abs":"https://arxiv.org/abs/1311.1212v1","url_pdf":"https://arxiv.org/pdf/1311.1212v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"links_only","authors_date_abstract":"arXiv metadata, CC0 1.0 (https://info.arxiv.org/help/license), from the Kaggle arXiv metadata snapshot of 2026-09-12"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"cosmology-with-massive-neutrinos-ii-on-the","repo_url":"https://github.com/ktanidis/Modified_CosmoSIS_for_galaxy_number_count_angular_power_spectra","is_official":0,"mentioned_in_paper":0,"mentioned_in_github":1,"framework":"none","reach":{"status":"unanswered"}}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
