Here we construct an\nindividual-based mathematical model of this process, which is parametrised\nusing existing empirical findings from mice. This approach allows us to\nquantify the amount of migration between the bone marrow niches and the\nperipheral blood. We use this model to investigate clonal hematopoiesis, which\nis a significant risk factor for hematologic cancers. We also analyse the\nengraftment of donor stem cells into non-conditioned and conditioned hosts,\nquantifying the impact of different treatment scenarios. The simplicity of the\nmodel permits a thorough mathematical analysis, providing deeper insights into\nthe dynamics of both the model and of the real-world system. We predict the\ntime taken for mutant clones to expand within a host, as well as chimerism\nlevels that can be expected following transplantation therapy, and the\nprobability that a preconditioned host is reconstituted by donor cells.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1707.04194v2","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1707.04194v2.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"clonal-dominance-and-transplantation-dynamics","repo_url":"https://github.com/ashcroftp/clonal-hematopoiesis-2017","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"none","reach":null}],"tasks":[],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
