While providing valuable speed-ups on modern many-core devices\nin case both a large number of reference and query points are given, buffer k-d\ntrees are limited by the amount of points that can fit on a single device. In\nthis work, we show how to modify the original data structure and the associated\nworkflow to make the overall approach capable of dealing with massive data\nsets. We further provide a simple yet efficient way of using multiple devices\ngiven in a single workstation. The applicability of the modified framework is\ndemonstrated in the context of astronomy, a field that is faced with huge\namounts of data.","url_abs":"http://arxiv.org/abs/1512.02831v1","url_pdf":"http://arxiv.org/pdf/1512.02831v1.pdf","source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28","licence_url":"https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/legalcode","row_kind":"abstracts"},"code_links":[{"paper_slug":"bigger-buffer-k-d-trees-on-multi-many-core","repo_url":"https://github.com/gieseke/bufferkdtree","is_official":1,"mentioned_in_paper":1,"mentioned_in_github":0,"framework":"none","reach":null}],"tasks":[{"task_slug":"astronomy","task_name":"Astronomy"}],"methods":[],"datasets_introduced":[],"methods_introduced":[],"results":[],"syntology":{"syntology_url":null,"atlas_url":null,"mcp":null,"developers":"https://syntology.ai/developers"},"arxiv_metadata":null,"syntology_extracted_results":null}
