{"url":"/dataset/met","name":"Met","full_name":null,"description_markdown":"The **Met** dataset is a large-scale dataset for Instance-Level Recognition (ILR) in the artwork domain. It relies on the open access collection from the Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met) in New York to form the training set, which consists of about 400k images from more than 224k classes, with artworks of world-level geographic coverage and chronological periods dating back to the Paleolithic period. Each museum exhibit corresponds to a unique artwork, and defines its own class. The training set exhibits a long-tail distribution with more than half of the classes represented by a single image, making it a special case of few-shot learning.","description_withheld":null,"homepage":"http://cmp.felk.cvut.cz/met/","introduced_date":"2022-02-03","introduced_date_note":null,"introduced_by":{"paper":"/paper/the-met-dataset-instance-level-recognition","title":"The Met Dataset: Instance-level Recognition for Artworks","first_author":"Nikolaos-Antonios Ypsilantis","url":null},"license":{"name":"Unknown","url":null},"modalities":[],"tasks":[],"languages":[],"variants":["Met"],"data_loaders":[{"repo":"https://github.com/nikosips/met","url":"https://github.com/nikosips/met","frameworks":[]}],"num_papers_in_archive":11,"source":{"archive":"pwc-archive (Hugging Face), CC BY-SA 4.0","snapshot":"2025-07-28"},"benchmarks":[],"papers_with_a_benchmark_row":[],"syntology_totals":{"read_at":"2026-09-24T18:15:14+00:00","papers_with_samples":0,"samples_harvested":0,"samples_ran":0,"samples_unverified":0,"pointer_only_for_licence":0,"papers_with_no_sample_that_ran":0,"note":"the per-paper counts above, summed; not a rate"},"papers_note":"The archive never published its papers-using-dataset list; these are papers with a leaderboard row on this dataset's benchmarks."}
